Weekly Themes & Stories for June
And… We’re BACK! We appreciate your patience and understanding during our temporary closure and are looking so forward to seeing you. As always we will keep things safe, secure, fun, educational and exciting. Some things will be a little different but one thing will always remain the same; Our commitment to you and your family.
This month we will be learning about: Kangaroos, Koalas, Tasmanian Devils, and Crocodiles. We will read Too Many Kangaroo Things To Do, The Koala Who Could, Tasmanian Devil, and Snap. You can cuddle up and read these great books with your child at home too.
How we are keeping parents, children and teachers safe
- Hours M-F 8-5 until further notice. We prefer that pickup be planned for 3:30-4:30. (Hours modified temporarily to allow for new social distancing procedures and practices.)
- All parents, children and teachers self check at home night before and morning before coming to school. Fever >100? Feeling sick? Etc Stay home.
- All adults wear masks.
- We encourage children 3+ year old to wear a face covering at school. Please teach them at home how to put on and off, wear, and store properly. No children under 2 can wear a mask. https://halseyschools.com/face-coverings-getting-children-comfortable/
- Parents do not enter buildings and drop off and pick up quickly outside.
- Parents, children and teachers all screened again before entry with no touch temperature checks. As always we continue to look for and monitor any signs of possible illness throughout the day including random temperature checks.
- Children will be kept in same group as much as possible and we will practice as much social distancing as possible with more outdoor time, more individual activities and of course lots of fun!
- We will continue to disinfect constantly and wash our hands often.

Evolving Drop Off & Pick Up Procedures
Preschool
- One happy masked parent per family. (Parents do not enter buildings at this time.)
- Children 3+ should wear masks too if they can do so safely and appropriately.
- 8:00-9:00 Please wait at Pumpkin yard gate for a smiling teacher to instruct you to enter. (Line up towards Comercio Way social distance style. Not towards the Fire Truck Park. Maintain social distance and wear your masks.)
- Your temperature and your child’s temperature will be happily taken at the door with a health check. <100 and no illness signs gets your child in!
- Your child will be greeted inside by another happy teacher to wash hands and start having a BLAST!
- Parents exit through the sliding glass door in the front office knowing their children are going to have a safe and fun day!

- Come back to the gate at pickup time 3:30-4:30 (Unless picking up earlier) to be greeted by your happy child and teachers.
We will evaluate and modify these procedures as we progress and optimize our plans with your input.
Infant & Toddler Center
- One happy masked parent per family. (Parents do not enter buildings at this time.)
- 8:00-9:00 Please wait at the gate for a happy teacher to instruct you to enter. (Line up social distance style along the sidewalk in front towards Costanso Street with masks on.)
- Go to the sink in front of the Tiny Tot door to wash your child’s hands. Continue to maintain social distance.
- Proceed to your child’s entrance to another happily waiting teacher.
- Your temperature and your child’s temperature will be happily taken at the door with a health check. <100 and no illness signs gets your child in!

- Parents maintain social distance and carefully navigate back out the same gate knowing their children are in for a happy and safe day.
- Come back 3:30-4:30 to your child’s door entrance and wait for your child. (Unless picking up earlier.) Always maintain social distance from other families and share your smile through your face covering.)

Busy Bees’ Graduation 6/26: Our traditional graduation is unfortunately cancelled. But we do have wonderful plans to honor our AWESOME graduates. Busy Bees will hear more soon!
No Lead in our water: For everyone’s safety we run lead tests on our water supply into all buildings. Test results confirm no lead present. 🙂 You can read the results here:
Reminders
Fun day of care for siblings 6-12: GREAT news! If you have older children they can attend too at our preschool. We will have a separate group of older children. 🙂 Just email us to start or get the deets. Preschool tuition rates will apply.
Wear Sunscreen Everyday: It’s Sunscreen Time! If you’ve stopped applying daily sunscreen, it’s time to get back into the swing of things. Children (10 months- 6yrs) should come to school wearing an SPF 30 or more on all exposed areas of the skin. If you would like us to re-apply a medication form must be completed. We also recommend wearing a hat. We will be having a lot of outdoor fun! (Always consult your child’s physician.)

Tuition Rates: Our tuition rates are adjusted annually. If you are not yet on the current rate schedule, the adjustment takes place on your June 20th statement for July billing.
