This year our annual theme will be the When I Grow Up… Each week we will learn about different jobs, careers and more. This month we start with Teachers, Principals, Janitors, and Secretaries. We will read I want to be a Teacher, School, What Does a Janitor Do?, and School Secretaries. It is going to be a fun, educational year!
Our hours remain 7:30-5:30. For the safety of the children, we are still wearing masks inside & parents can come into the school by appointment only with masks on and proof of immunization. (Not for drop off or pickup.) Keep following our important illness & safety protocols at home and we’ll do the same at school.

Karate Mondays with Little Ninjas: 9:30-11:00 for children 3+. All classes will place outside. Each class (Pandas, Penguins, Dragonflies, Busy Bees) will have their own session. All Enrichment Instructors follow all the same screening procedures as our teachers. Little Ninjas Karate $69mth, meets on Mondays
Dance Tuesdays with Star Dreams: Starting 9/7 11:00 for children 3+. All classes will take place outside. Each class (Pandas, Penguins, Dragonflies, Busy Bees) will have their own session. All Enrichment Instructors follow all the same screening procedures as our teachers. Star Dreams Dance & Gym, $56/mth, meets on Tuesdays.
Soccer Wednesdays with Captain Kicks: Starting 9/8 9:30-10:45 for children 2+. A 1/2 hour class for Pandas and a 45 minute class for Penguins, Dragonflies & Busy Bees. All classes will take place outside. All Enrichment Instructors follow all the same screening procedures as our teachers. Captain Kicks Soccer $160 for a 10 week session, meets Wednesdays. Staff Development Training 9/21 & 9/22: Nurturing & Understanding Children’s Social & Emotional Development | Every month our teachers learn something new, take a look at something old from a new perspective, reinforce and reinvigorate previous education and training, or just have some hands-on fun through our regular training programs. | We are partners with Quality Start Los Angeles (QSLA)! This partnership allows us to provide regular free training to our teachers to make ourselves and our program even better! In addition to many training opportunities, we will also have personal coaches to help us set goals for ourselves, the classrooms, the children and the school. Reminders
Would you like to visit your child’s classroom or chat with the teachers? Please email [email protected] to set something up. You can visit virtually through Google Meet, talk on the phone or visit the class in person. In person visits require proof of COVID vaccination and a mask.
Materials & Supplies Fee: The annual $250 materials and supplies fee will be posted on your September statement on August 20th. If you reserved your child’s space in February/March with the Materials and Supplies fee you won’t be charged again. If you paid the registration fee to start in August or September, the Materials & Supplies Fee is waived. As indicated in the fee’s name, the funds that are generated are used to help purchase new materials and supplies for the children throughout the year.
Tuition Rates: The tuition rates are adjusted every year to make sure we attract and keep the most highly qualified, energetic, interactive, loving-caring teachers. Tuition is what pays the teachers’ salaries, 401(K), Health Benefits, Training and more. If you are not yet on the current rate schedule, the adjustment took place on your August 20th statement for September billing. Hours 7:30-5:30. After a successful transition to 7:30-5:30 we will increase the hours again most likely by a ½ hour a side until we get back to our normal 6:30-6:30 hours. In order to accommodate extended hours Preschool children’s groups will be mingled in the morning and afternoon but will be kept in their usual groups: Pandas, Penguins, Dragonflies & Busy Bees, throughout the core of the day. For the safety of the children, we are still wearing masks inside & parents can come into the school by appointment only with masks on and proof of immunization. Not to drop off or pick up. Nursing mother’s can come in to nurse as needed and scheduled with the teachers.
Drop off and pickup remains the same with masks on for parents, teachers and children 2+ | Self home checks and staying home when ill remains the same. | Children 2+ will no longer be required to wear masks during outside playground time and neither will teachers. However, masks are still required inside all the time and outside for pickup and drop off.

Illness Policy: We follow a strict written Illness Policy
- All families & teachers self-check at home and are checked before entry for any signs of illness. Temperatures are checked. Anything >100° stays home. All illnesses stay home.
- Any COVID-19 symptoms require 1+ negative COVID-19 tests and/or 10-14 day quarantine and no symptoms. And administration/director approval. Read More
- If your child visits a doctor for any illness, please ask for a return authorization note. Halsey Schools reserves the right to exclude a child from school at any time for any reason, even if a doctor or other recommends otherwise
- If we have 3 or more children come down with something (other than COVID-19) we provide more information on the illness.
- Stay home with your child if you, your spouse or anyone else who is in your home regularly like a nanny, grandparent, sibling, cleaning person or your child tests positive for COVID-19. And notify us immediately.
Wear Sunscreen Everyday: It’s Sunscreen Time! Children (10 months- 6yrs) should come to school wearing an SPF 30 or more on all exposed areas of the skin. If you would like us to re-apply a medication form must be completed. We also recommend wearing a hat. We will be having a lot of outdoor fun! (Always consult your child’s physician.)
Healthy Schools Act Notice: We do not plan/expect to use any pesticides for pest management under the Healthy Schools Act. We disinfect throughout the day using safer alternatives to bleach and other chemicals: Clorox Hydrogen Peroxide Disinfectant, Oxivir Hydrogen Peroxide Disinfectant, Lysol Disinfectant Spray, Formula 409 Multi-Surface Cleaner, Pine Sol, Clorox Hydrogen Peroxide Disinfectant, Oxivir Hydrogen Peroxide Disinfectant, & Odoban
