The crib can be a wonderfully secure place to sleep and rest. In order to keep it that way, parents of babies under one year old must follow one simple rule.
Nothing should be in the crib but your baby
If your baby is under 12 months old nothing should be in crib except your baby. No blankets, pillows, toys, stuffed animals, bumpers, pets, etc. Just your baby. Your baby should be placed in the crib on his or her back wearing sleep clothing or a sleep sack.
The American Academy of Pediatrics says there is “no evidence that bumper pads prevent injuries, and there is a potential risk of suffocation, strangulation or entrapment.” In some states baby bumpers are banned from even being sold.

Jenni and I have spent our entire lives surrounded by children. Even if we’ve done something hundreds oftimes it’s always exciting, fresh and new with fascinated children.|
